| Nihilism, Atheism and Determinism | |

| I am a firm believer of Nihilism and determinism and a firm disbeliever of anything religious.
Atheism in my view is not the idea that god definitely does not exist, more that it is so incredibly unlikely that god exists and thus it is silly to think anything of the sort is true. Atheism promotes a philosophy of logic and reason that allow a person act on true knowledge of a certain topic and not based on anything that is not proven to be true. There are many arguments that show that humanity would be better off by adopting the atheist mind set, since it would increase the average intelligence and capability of the general public by having them learn about things that are definitely true while not wasting time believing in ridiculous stories and acting in ways that would be acceptable to the book and not common sense. Determinism posits that there is no such thing as free will, and that because of this there are no unpredictable bodies or occurrences to hinder causality, and so it follows that the future will be the same no matter what actions we take in the present. Nothing that we do now will change the future because it is impossible to do something different from what you are ultimately going to do. All your decisions are based on mathematical equations occurring in a biological manner within your brain, there are no factors that are truly random. The idea is that a truly random function could not exist because for it to produce an output it would require inputs that did not come to be inputs because of causality but had instead spontaneously appeared, which is so far unobserved and considered impossible. Nihilism is a philosophy encompassing Atheism and to an extent determinism. Nihilism is the belief that because there is no higher power to give humanity a purpose there is in fact no purpose, simply happening. Nihilists believe that because everything is causally defined including the preset definition of morality in the human mind developed through evolution that moral boundaries are simply arbitrarily placed and that evil is only evil because we are programmed to recognise it that way. Nihilism is considered dangerous to society because of the abolishment of morals and the ease of a Nihilist to commit atrocities and feel no guilt. I am a believer of all three of these philosophies and I can say that I am content to continue living for I am only human and I can still enjoy the evolutionarily fashioned emotions that I can experience, I can still enjoy the story of humanity and my life despite knowing that it cant be any different no matter what I do just like I can enjoy a book despite knowing that the ending will never be different. My view of life also allows me to take actions that will increase my personal enjoyment and fulfillment at the expense of anyone else, it gives me an advantage to becoming successful that people who abide by their moral instincts do not have. I will conduct my life using logic as a means to receiving as much enjoyment as I can without regard for anyones happiness unless it suites me that they remain happy. So sue me. |
